The Federation Of Canadian Artist’s Calgary Spring Art Show & Sale was on April 15. It was a huge success with beautiful artwork from members across Calgary and surrounding areas! All of the artwork was juried into the show through the jurors in Vancouver. I had two paintings juried into the show – Icy Pond’s and Morant’s Curve.

Pi Art Squared is a round take on the traditional Square Foot Show. The show which falls on “Pi Day” 03.14 – March 14, is the brainchild of artist, Kate Taylor. The show will officially run from March 9 – 16. There will be an in person show opening on Thursday, March 9, 6-9pm at Art Alchemy, 89 Research Road, second floor. ***On The Third Day Of Christmas My True Love Gave To Me – A Great Big New Painting! I am super excited to share this brand new painting of Morant’s Curve! The CP Rail train is snaking it’s way around the Bow River and famous Morant’s Curve in the snowy mountains of Banff National Park. We spent about an hour waiting for the train to come around the corner, we saw one train going the wrong way, a wolf walking down the tracks, and when the train finally did come – one very funny train engineer! What a great day!

Bugaboos! Fun to say and fun to explore! The famous bugaboo spires make this one of the most recognizable peaks in the area! Climbers from all over the world come to conquer them. Bugaboo Provincial Park is located north of Invermere in the Purcell Mountains. There are lots of river crossings, water falls and soooo much bear poop 🐻💩😆 I highly recommend taking a trip to the Bugaboos – you won’t be sorry! It’s beautiful!!!

A new train painting for the weekend! Tanker cars on a windswept prairie with a chinook arch up in the sky – does it get any more Albertan than that? I had finished this painting back in the spring and brought it with me to the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair – it was definitely a conversation starter! Good and Bad! But that’s what art is about, making people feel something! One man told me it reminded him of his childhood back in China. Many (and I mean many) knew exactly where I had taken the photo for this painting – making me think, our country isn’t really that big!

Magical things happen when it gets to -40 degrees in Alberta! Last year during one of our crazy deep freezes we were in Banff and I was able to take some of these amazing photos! And by able to…I mean – my camera didn’t stop working, my eyelashes didn’t freeze together, and my fingers didn’t get frost bite because those are actual things that actually happen in -40 😂 It was one of the most frigidly beautiful days down at Vermillion Lakes and the views were spectacular! The only thing you can’t tell from the photo is that it was super smelly from the sulphuric hot springs on the edge of the shore. And it’s the reason the water isn’t totally frozen! Mother Nature sure is awesome!

A pretty & snowy little tree to brighten your day on a very snowy and blustery day here in Calgary! This painting was inspired by a snowshoeing adventure last winter. As we headed back to the truck, the sun was going down – the world around us was turning into a pink and purple winter wonderland! So beautiful!

Fall is a very busy and exciting time in the art world! Lots of shows and celebrations of the art we have created over the past year!
The first show I will be a part of is the Beacon Original Art’s 2022 Fall Art Show. It will be at the Bridgeland Riverside Community Association on October 15th from 10am to 4pm
The second show will be Federation Of Canadian Artist 40 Years Of Art & Sale. It will be at the Edgemont Community Association on October 22nd from 10am to 4pm.
I will be hosting an open house as part of the Calgary Artist’s Studio Tour on October 22nd & 23rd from 11 am to 4pm.
My painting pieces for the 2022 Pynelogs Summer Art Show are showcasing all of the amazing National and Provincial parks that surround the Columbia Valley. I am excited to share the ones I have been exploring! We have hiked into Bugaboos Provincial Park and stared in awe at the famous Spires that tower high into the sky. Jumbo Provincial Park is home to the beautifully wild Jumbo Glacier, the views and the wildflowers are seemingly endless! Top Of The World Provincial Park is home to Fish Lake, one of the prettiest places to hike to, camp on the shores and fish in! Kootenay National Park has suffered many wildfires over the years, one positive that comes from the fires are the endless fields of glorious fireweed! Banff National Park is gem close to the Columbia Valley. The pretty little town of Banff and the iconic trains running alongside the Bow River and through the historic train station always have me stopping for a look. Famous Lake Louise has so many things to love about it – my favorites are the red canoes and the many hiking trails to tea houses, waterfalls and crazy beautiful views. Moraine Lake is one of the most beautiful and iconic places in Canada and we are lucky to have it so close to us! Bugaboos Provincial Park to the west, Jumbo Provincial Park to the north, Top Of The World Provincial Park to the south, Kootenay and Banff National Parks to the East – The Columbia Valley is surrounded by gorgeous parks! They are all there, just waiting for us to explore and enjoy!
Pynelogs Artist Soirée
This year I was juried into one of the largest art shows in Canada! It took a lot of hard work and determination and it was all worth it! My paintings and I travelled across the country to show off what we are all about! I had a ton of fun meeting new people and hearing what they thought of my art! It was all good of course! Made some new artist friends, and met up with some online ones – such a fantastic weekend of art! 61st Annual Toronto Outdoor Art Fair
This year my paintings were accepted into the Calgary Stampede’s Western Oasis Art Gallery. My 7 western themed paintings were on display in the Mini Masterpiece Salon. It was pretty darn cool dropping off my work at the BMO Centre at the Stampede Grounds and getting a behind the scenes look at all the amazing artwork and artists that I admire so much. It was even more exciting to see my name and artwork up on display. Pretty darn surreal! As a native Calgarian, I love the Stampede and all it stands for – especially the community part of it! Who remembers the song ‘Land Of The Silver Birch’ from camp as a kid? Sitting around the camp fire singing the lines, and around and around it would go – it had such a cool melody! I couldn’t get the tune of it out of my head while I was painting these two paintings! I had to ask my sister for the words tho – because she always remembers stuff like that. I did in fact call her and she did sing it to me 😂 Hope you enjoy these two pieces.
